The body is woven in a Kumihimo style on a Lucas hook. I have normally used rayon floss to do the bodies, but with this fly I used silk floss. The silk floss is harder to work with because of the possible fraying. The back section uses 8 black and 8 white floss strands. The front of the body uses 12 black and 4 white floss strands. This is also the first time I have tried two different braids on the same fly. When I first started tying doing kumihimo woven body flies I had problems tying off the floss without a lot of bulk. I was pretty happy with the results of how the ends were tied off and turned out.

28 Jul 2014I was so impressed your beautiful fly! I am a researcher of Kumihimo, so I would like to know how you braid Kumihimo on the body of the fly. I think it is very difficult to braid Kumihimo on such a small spaces, thank you!
