The spiral weave uses the same basic technique as the overhand or knot weave. The only difference is that the weaving, materials do not stay on the top and bottom of the hook. The vise is positioned differently so the knots go around the hook. This is one weave where the same color material can be used while giving a unique look. I discovered this technique when I was looking for a round weave to make steelhead flies. The weave is from a book called 200 braids to twist, knot, loop or weave, by Jacqui Carey . This weave creates what looks like a ribbing on the fly.
